Smart bulbs are incredible when they work, but they can occasionally lose connection to your Wi-Fi network or smart home hub. When this happens, a simple factory reset is usually the best fix. The reset process varies by brand. Here is how to factory reset the most popular smart bulbs on the market.
1. How to Reset Philips Hue Bulbs
If you have a Hue Dimmer Switch, hold it close to the bulb and press the On and Off buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds until the bulb blinks. If not, open the Hue app, go to Settings > Lights, select your bulb, and tap ‘Delete’. This resets the bulb.
2. How to Reset Govee & Wyze Bulbs
To reset Govee or Wyze smart bulbs, follow the classic power cycle method:
- Turn the physical light switch off and on 5 times in a row.
- Keep a steady pace (about 1 second per switch).
- The bulb will start pulsing or flashing color to indicate a successful reset.
3. How to Reset Kasa Smart (TP-Link) Bulbs
- Turn the light switch controlling the bulb off and on 5 times.
- The bulb will blink 3 times, indicating it is ready to pair again.
After resetting, open your smart home app, click “Add Device,” and search for your bulb to set it up fresh.
