How to Group Smart Lights in Google Home for Single-Room Commands

Organize Your Smart Home Layout

If you have multiple smart bulbs in a single room (like four ceiling lights in the kitchen), calling out to turn on each light individually is tedious. By grouping your lights into a single “Room” inside the Google Home app, you can turn them all off or dim them with a single command. Here is how to set it up.

How to Assign Lights to a Room

  1. Open the Google Home App.
  2. Tap Devices and select the smart bulb you want to group.
  3. Tap Settings (Gear) > Room.
  4. Choose an existing room (e.g., Living Room, Kitchen) or click **Create New**.
  5. Repeat this process for all bulbs in that room.

Once grouped, you can say: “Hey Google, turn off the living room lights” to control all of them at once.
