Upgrade Your Lawn Care Without Professional Help
Many homeowners believe that upgrading to a smart irrigation controller requires hiring a professional landscaper or electrician. In reality, replacing your old, analog sprinkler timer with a smart controller is a simple DIY project that takes less than an hour. Here is our step-by-Step installation guide.
What You Need
- A smart sprinkler controller (e.g. Rachio 3, Wyze Sprinkler Controller).
- A screwdriver.
- A smartphone and stable Wi-Fi signal in your garage or basement.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Take a photo of the wiring in your old sprinkler controller. This photo is your map!
- Unplug the old controller and disconnect the wires.
- Mount the new smart controller bracket on the wall.
- Insert the wires into the matching terminals (Common wire goes to ‘C’, zone wires go to numbered slots).
- Plug in the power supply.
- Open the smart app and follow the prompts to connect the controller to Wi-Fi and test each zone.
