Connect Z-Wave Security Locks and Switches to Echo
Amazon Echo speakers connect natively to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and some models include a built-in Zigbee hub. However, Echo devices do not have Z-Wave radios built-in. If you want to control Z-Wave locks or switches using Alexa voice commands, you need a bridge to connect them. Here are the best ways to do it.
Method 1: Use a Multi-Protocol Hub (Recommended)
Connect your Z-Wave devices to a smart home hub like **Samsung SmartThings** or **Hubitat Elevation**. Once connected, enable the corresponding SmartThings or Hubitat Skill in the Alexa app. Alexa will discover your Z-Wave devices through the hub, giving you full voice control.
Method 2: Ring Alarm System Bridge
If you have a Ring Alarm Base Station (which runs on Z-Wave), you can connect compatible Z-Wave devices (like Yale or Kwikset smart locks) directly to it. Since Ring is owned by Amazon, these devices will automatically appear in your Alexa app.
