দেয়ালে ছিদ্র না করে, ওয়্যারিং না বদলে
ভাড়া বাসায় সুইচ বোর্ড বদলানো বা দেয়ালে ছিদ্র করা সবসময় সম্ভব হয় না। ভালো খবর হলো, স্মার্ট হোমের বেশিরভাগ সুবিধা প্লাগ-ইন যন্ত্র দিয়েই পাওয়া যায়, আর বাসা বদলালে সবকিছু খুলে সঙ্গে নিয়ে যেতে পারেন।
স্মার্ট বাল্ব: আগে হোল্ডার দেখুন
আমাদের দেশে দুই ধরনের বাতির হোল্ডার প্রচলিত: পিন লাগানো “বি২২” আর প্যাঁচ ঘোরানো “ই২৭”। বেশিরভাগ স্মার্ট বাল্ব ই২৭ ধরনের। আপনার হোল্ডার বি২২ হলে বি২২ সংস্করণ খুঁজুন, অথবা কনভার্টার ব্যবহার করুন; তবে কনভার্টারে বাল্ব লম্বা হয়ে যায়, শেডে নাও আঁটতে পারে।
স্মার্ট প্লাগ দিয়ে যা যা করা যায়
- টেবিল বা স্ট্যান্ড ফ্যান, মশার মেশিন বা নাইট ল্যাম্পে টাইমার দিন।
- মোবাইল চার্জারে টাইমার দিয়ে রাতভর চার্জ হওয়া বন্ধ করুন।
- বেশি ওয়াটের যন্ত্র (গিজার, রুম হিটার) সাধারণ ১০ অ্যাম্পিয়ারের স্মার্ট প্লাগে লাগাবেন না।
এসি আর টিভির জন্য আইআর ব্লাস্টার
একটি ছোট স্মার্ট আইআর ব্লাস্টার (ইউনিভার্সাল রিমোট) আপনার এসি, টিভি বা সেট-টপ বক্সের রিমোটের কাজ ফোন থেকে করতে পারে। বাসায় ফেরার আগে এসি চালু করা, বা ঘুমানোর কিছুক্ষণ পর বন্ধ করার জন্য এটি সবচেয়ে সাশ্রয়ী উপায়। স্মার্ট প্লাগ দিয়ে এসির বিদ্যুৎ কেটে দেওয়ার চেয়ে এটি অনেক নিরাপদ।
নিরাপত্তার জন্য
- আঠা দিয়ে লাগানো যায় এমন ডোর সেন্সর দরজা বা জানালা খুললেই ফোনে জানিয়ে দেয়।
- তাকের ওপর রাখা ওয়াই-ফাই ক্যামেরা, যেটি মেমরি কার্ডে রেকর্ড রাখে, ভাড়া বাসার জন্য ভালো।
- ক্যামেরা পাশের ফ্ল্যাট, সিঁড়ি বা প্রতিবেশীর জানালার দিকে তাক করবেন না।
বাসা ছাড়ার আগে
- প্রতিটি যন্ত্র অ্যাপ থেকে সরান আর ফ্যাক্টরি রিসেট দিন।
- বাড়িওয়ালার বাল্ব বা সুইচ খুলে থাকলে সেগুলো রেখে দিন এবং আবার লাগিয়ে দিন।
- কিছু বসাতে ছিদ্র বা নতুন তার লাগলে আগেই বাড়িওয়ালার অনুমতি নিন।
No drilling, no rewiring
In a rented flat you often can’t replace the switchboard or drill into walls. The good news is that most of the benefits of a smart home come from plug-in devices, and when you move you can unplug everything and take it with you.
Smart bulbs: check the holder first
Two kinds of bulb holder are common here: the pin-type B22 and the screw-type E27. Most smart bulbs are E27. If your holders are B22, look for a B22 version or use a converter, but a converter makes the bulb longer and it may not fit under the shade.
What a smart plug can do
- Put a table or pedestal fan, mosquito machine or night lamp on a timer.
- Stop phones charging all night with a timer on the charger.
- Don’t put high-wattage appliances such as a geyser or room heater on an ordinary 10 A smart plug.
An IR blaster for the AC and TV
A small smart IR blaster (a universal remote) can do the job of your AC, TV or set-top box remote from your phone. It is the cheapest way to turn the AC on before you get home, or off a while after you fall asleep, and much safer than cutting the AC’s power with a smart plug.
For security
- A door sensor that sticks on with adhesive alerts your phone when a door or window opens.
- A Wi-Fi camera that sits on a shelf and records to a memory card suits a rented flat.
- Don’t point a camera at the next flat, the stairwell or a neighbour’s window.
Before you move out
- Remove each device from the app and factory-reset it.
- If you took out the landlord’s bulbs or switches, keep them and put them back.
- Ask the landlord before anything that needs a hole or a new wire.
