Control Your Baking from Anywhere
Modern ovens from GE, LG, Bosch, and Samsung now feature Wi-Fi connectivity. Connecting your oven to your home network allows you to preheat it on your way home from work, monitor the internal food temperature, and receive alerts when your food is done. Here is how to connect and automate your smart oven.
Step-by-Step Connection Guide
- Download the manufacturer’s app (e.g. SmartHQ, ThinQ, SmartThings) and create an account.
- Locate the **Wi-Fi button** or setting on your oven control panel and hold it down until the Wi-Fi icon flashes.
- Open the app, select “Add Appliance > Oven,” and enter your local Wi-Fi password to pair.
Useful Oven Automations
- Remote Preheat: Start preheating your oven to 375°F while you are checking out at the grocery store so it is ready when you arrive.
- Alexa Integration: Tell Alexa to set a timer or check the oven status while your hands are covered in dough.
- Auto-Shutoff: Set the oven to turn off automatically once the internal meat probe reaches your desired temperature.
