Keep Holiday Gifts and Purchases a Secret
Amazon Echo speakers have a handy feature that announces when a delivery is arriving. However, Alexa will often speak the exact item name out loud (e.g., “Your package containing a PlayStation 5 will arrive today”). If you are buying gifts for family members in the same house, this can ruin the surprise. Here is how to disable delivery announcements.
How to Disable Item Names in Notifications
- Open the Alexa App.
- Tap More > Settings.
- Tap Notifications, then select Amazon Shopping.
- Under the section “Say or Show Item Titles,” toggle off **For items in delivery updates** and **For items in return updates**.
Now, Alexa will only announce: “You have a package arriving today” without spoiling the contents.
